Allow me to introduce myself
My name is Matt Craig, and I’m a Los Angeles-based journalist. In my day job I cover the business of Hollywood, entertainment, sports and gaming for Forbes. I’ve profiled billionaires like Dick Wolf and Magic Johnson, reported on high profile dealmaking, and edited 30 Under 30 lists. Prior to joining Forbes in 2022, I was part of The New York Times Covid-tracking team that was awarded the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service, and I’ve had bylines in The New York Times, Washington Post, Esquire, The Athletic and Business Insider.
But this newsletter has been a passion project of mine since the summer of 2018. I’m a bonafide cinephile who watches around 200 movies per year spanning every genre and generation, so my friends were always coming to me asking for recommendations.
I started putting out No Content For Old Men as a way of connecting and staying in touch with friends and family by sharing my passion for movies. Over the years, it has grown into a community who share insights, opinions, and a never-ending stream of suggestions about movies and really all popular culture.
During the pandemic, I expanded that desire to curate and share by rounding up the most interesting, entertaining and thought-provoking content from around the internet, and this newsletter’s true purpose came into focus.
Why subscribe?
Every day, we are overwhelmed by content. When we cue up our favorite streaming service, we can find ourselves scrolling through dozens of titles with no way to decide what to watch. Online we are bombarded by hundreds of potential stories, videos, podcasts, memes.
We are paralyzed by choice.
The promise of No Content For Old Men is to help alleviate that paralysis.
Every Friday morning you’ll receive a fresh edition of the newsletter, which includes "Something New," to help you decide if that movie in theaters (or, these days, on streaming) is worth seeing; "Something Old," to suggest an all-time classic you may have missed; and "Something to Stream," to uncover a hidden gem that's just a click away.
Every Tuesday morning you’ll get a short list of the very best pieces of content from around the internet. Some will make you think, some will make you laugh, and all of them will be worth your time. That’s a guarantee.
And the best part?
All of my reviews and suggestions are 100% spoiler-free. So you can read every edition whether you’ve seen the movie or not, without any fear of ruining your experience.
But wait, there’s more!
In addition to new content every week, here you can find access to my archive of reviews for hundreds of titles. We all know you can’t trust Rotten Tomatoes, so check in here to see if that movie you’re about to fire up is going to be any good.
Simply type in the name of the movie into the Search tool on the main home page. Then look for the corresponding name in the subtitle of one of my posts. Happy hunting!
